Chris Jacoub is a contemporary artist renowned for his acrylic pouring techniques, creating dynamic, fluid art pieces that captivate viewers. His work often features vibrant, swirling patterns that feel alive, embodying a sense of movement and energy.

Earlier Life:

Born on December 31, 1992 in Tehran, Iran, Jacoub grew up with two passions that shaped his childhood: piano and drawing. From the time he was five until the age of twelve, music took center stage, with hours spent at the piano each day. But at thirteen, his focus shifted. Drawing became a daily practice, and he soon found himself connecting with it more deeply than anything else, marking the true beginning of his life as an artist.

2005-2017

In 2005, Jacoub and his family fled Iran as religious refugees, first settling briefly in Vienna before moving to the United States. Soon after their arrival, tragedy struck with the passing of his father. Jacoub eventually made a home in Northern California with his mother and sister, where he faced the challenges of cultural adaptation while mourning this profound loss.

Relocating to Los Angeles in his late teens became a turning point. In 2017, Jacoub discovered his true calling in painting, developing a distinctive style that combined acrylics and oils on black canvas. This dark foundation became both a technical choice and a philosophical statement, allowing him to explore the dualities of life. His work is recognized for its haunting beauty, often featuring skeletal figures and skull portraits that act as vessels for personal narrative. These memento mori reflect on mortality and existence, shaped by his refugee journey and the personal losses that continue to inform his vision.

2018-present

Since then, Jacoub has gone on to make his mark in the modern art world, garnering millions of supporters globally and establishing himself as a testament to resilience and the power of overcoming hardship — turning personal struggle into art that speaks to the human spirit.

Exhibitions:

Gravity - 2024

"Gravity" is a visual exploration of the powerful, unseen forces that both ground us and hold us back, inviting reflection on the human condition and the struggle for emotional release.

Through my artwork, i am to capture this tension between freedom and constraint, lightness and weight, using texture and color evoke a sense of both heaviness and suspension.

"Gravity" becomes a metaphor for the human condition, a reflection on how the forces around and within us shape our reality, pulling us toward inevitable consequences.

Life in Color - 2024

Life in Color presents a series of paintings that explore the theme of life through the use of fluid acrylics in vivid hues.

Each work contrasts bright, flowing colors with monochromatic skeleton figures, creating a dialogue between vitality and mortality.

The exhibition reflects on balance — life and death, light and dark, presence and absence — where color becomes the symbol of life itself.
